This Drones Main Purpose Is To Spot Sharks From The Sky

first_imgStay on target No one ever wants to accidentally run into a shark while having fun hanging out and swimming in the ocean. But what can you actually do about it? It’s not like you can psychically predict the likelihood of running into a shark while you’re trying to have a good time. Luckily, modern tech has advanced to a point where we can use the tech we have to combat problems like this in intelligent ways. And by intelligent ways, I mean by using drones that use shark-spotting software to find where sharks may be laying in wait, about to attack unsuspecting beachgoers. The drone was developed utilizing special software by Australian scientists to look for sharks near the shore and will, in fact, make sure swimmers are alerted via megaphone. The drone can even tell the difference between sharks, swimmers, and other types of denizens of the sea, with better accuracy than humans can. So you could try to swim around wearing fake shark fins or something silly like this, and the drone would be having none of it. It’s funny to laugh at, but it’s seriously a very helpful piece of tech that could help save a lot of lives, especially in Australia, where shark attack encounters ranked second in the country. This kind of tech is clearly quite useful, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it start springing up in places around the rest of the world. Shark attacks are obviously no joke, and the more we can do to keep people safe from these unprovoked attacks, which can end up in a loss of life and limbs, the better. As drone tech improves and we’re able to do even more with the machines and software going forward, this may even be able to be applied to other threats in nature as well.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.
