first_imgIt’s al go for these kids in Raphoe!Huge crowds from right across the community in Raphoe and indeed beyond, flocked to the grounds of St Eunan’s National School on Saturday last where a great day was had by all at the Family Fun Day to celebrate the great work of the school and children. The free event, which was blessed with glorious sunshine, was organised by the Parents Association, who wished to open the school up to the local community so everyone could come along and see the school of which they are so proud. This cooking stuff would open your eyes!Saturday’s fun day involved many fun activities including face painting, bouncy castles, loom band zone, DVD zone, Disco, cake sale and Fun Football Competition. The 5th and 6th class students organised the Fun Football competition, which involved parents of each class in plays offs, the team of Mrs. Callghan’s class were announced the winners and the children enjoyed a special treat of Ice Cream when they returned to school on Monday. This was one of the key events of the day and there was great fun had by the players and spectators – perhaps the biggest cheer of the day coming when local Parish Priest Canon Denis McGettigan, donned the football shirt and then rolled back the years to tuck away a penalty in one of the matches. All fun and games at the BBQ!The event came to an end with a current and past pupils taking to the stage to entertain the crowds. The talent was amazing and added to the whole experience and the sense of pride in the school. The Parents Association is made up of all the parents of the school and offers a great way for the parents to work with the school to add to their children’s school experience. The day would not have been possible without the help and support of parents and volunteers from the community who offered their time to help on the day.The Parents Association would like to take this opportunity to thank the School Principal Mr Hugo Lafferty and Vice Principle Mrs Anita Keeve for their help and support in organising the day.Caroline Kelly Hastings, chairperson of the Parents Association committee noted: “As parents we are extremely proud of the children, their teachers and the school. St. Eunan’s doing amazing things with our children with limited resources and the family fun day was our way of celebrating their successes and letting everyone know how proud we are.”ALL PICS FROM JOE BOLAND AT NORTHWEST NEWPIXFace painting was part of the fun at the SAt Eunan’s NS fun day.  HUGELY SUCCESSFUL FAMILY FUN DAY AT ST EUNAN’S NS, RAPHOE – PIC SPECIAL was last modified: June 24th, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:BBQdonegalRaphoeSt Eunans NSlast_img
